The arrest of Lebanese nationals in Angola as part of a nationwide crackdown on the country’s diamond industry prompted Speaker Nabih Berri Thursday to call on Angola’s president to personally intervene. A statement from Berri’s office said the reasons for the arrests were unknown; however, a Lebanese businessman in Angola confirmed to The Daily Star that the arrests came as part of the crackdown.
